~ SPECIAL EVENT: LIVE AT LENIN! ~

In the spirit of the "Red, White, & Dead" zombie gathering in Fremont on July 2nd, Fremont Arts Council will host a booth starring a make-up special-effects artist teaching the undead-curious how to do easy scars & zombie make up 6:30 - 8:30pm!  (This is the best make-up instruction you can hope for short of conversing with a real zombie, who would be too distracted by an insatiable desire for your brains to stay on topic and thus, terribly dangerous while being no real help at all.)

Pickled Okra string band will also be performing their jig-inducing tunes in Lenin Square from 7:30pm - 9pm!  Thriller meets Americana…let's do this!!!

Born of Scottish parents, raised in Switzerland, trained by the Dutch at the de Kooning Academie, figurative painter Fiona McGuigan brings a worldly view to her paintings of wrestlers and dancers. Her current work is all about capturing the human figure in motion, finding the moment of impact when bodies collide and exploring the nationalistic overtones found in images of Swiss wrestling.
Fiona’s work has been seen at the Whatcom County Museum in Bellingham, Gallery 110 in Seattle, Gallery One in Ellensburg, and at the Stage Gallery in New York. Her paintings have also been shown at the School of Visual Concepts in Seattle, where Fiona trained and is now the assistant director.

"The ideas for my paintings do not evolve from any kind of social narrative. They are independent from human structure and exist maybe only in the microcosm. A universe within a universe. The idea of deep sea luminosity fascinates me along with cellular structure of imagined life forms. I strive for a continuous awareness for light, negative space and the impact of subtle color. Bubbles. I am obsessed with bubbles." - Jones
Wine for $5/glass, or 5/$20. Live music by Bar Tabac, plus Here and There food truck will be serving their mouth-watering culinary fare from the winery parking lot.

What attracted us to Janet and made us want to show her was the lushness of her paintings. Images of jungles and gardens are thick with all manner of plants and creatures. But then that contrasts with her still lifes: simple, graceful, serene. Janet describes her process like this: "I paint and sculpt mainly from my imagination. I create a story in my mind, and then I try and create it on canvas or in clay."

Jean Bradbury was born in Shetland Islands, U.K. in 1963. She grew up in New Brunswick, canada on her parents organic farm where she learned to see plants and animals as a natural part of her emotional life. After completing her BFA in painting at Queens University she spent time traveling through Europe developing an interest in art history, natural dyes and archeology.
She paints gardens inhabited by whimsical and often vulnerable creatures. Both joyful and sinister, these places celebrate our own gentle natures in a world where anxiety and heartache lurk.

Artist: Ann McBurney, Oil Paintings
Ann’s been drawing and painting for work and pleasure since forever, yet she’s new to working with oil. For us she chose to evoke the romance and passion of cycling by revisiting commercial bicycle art from the turn of the last century. In using oils, Ann finds the striking graphics and colorful images of these vintage designs made new again. Much as she feels when riding a bike – like a kid again.
