Maybe it's the nostalgia, or maybe it's the juvenile media  targeted towards adults. Either way my fondness for comics, cartoons, science fiction and fantasy has grown significantly  since I was a kid. Nerd culture is more mainstream than ever before and has many manifestations. The rate of consumption is much faster than the rate at which something can be created which often leaves a longing for more. Re-watching shows in between seasons or re-reading books before the next in the series sometimes just isn't enough and I feel the desire to create my own works  using established characters and universes.

Artist: Jill Labieniec

I grew up in a small New England town which is home to cows, dirt roads and a revolutionary war spy. My silly imagination and love for putting it down on paper led to me to Florida where I received my BFA in illustration from the Ringling School of Art and Design. Upon graduating, I joined my longtime friend on an adventure to the pacific northwest where I saw my first river otter and ate my first corn dog. I currently spend my days as a freelance illustrator who enjoys picnics and daydreaming of sailboats.
